Brian and Shelby’s Industrial Romantic Wedding | Venue 808, San Diego, Ca

Fun fact: We met Brian and Shelby completely by accident.

Me and my fiancee had the honor of capturing Brian’s proposal to Shelby in Yosemite National Park. I met these two on the day Brian proposed to Shelby, the same day i was scouting for the perfect spot to propose as well. I saw these two sitting at the famous Taft Point cliff in Yosemite. I wanted to test some frames to a have a visual idea of what its gonna look like when its my turn to propose. So i offered to take a few of their photos not knowing Brian’s big plans at that very moment. After a few poses, he took out the ring out of his pocket and asked Shelby to marry him. I was so surprised and teary eyed and took it as a sign that i should propose on that same exact spot 😍

Now, fast forward, i shot their wedding just recently. Call it fate if you like, but it was only natural that we were the team responsible for capturing this beautiful couple’s Big Day. Not a bad way to wrap up wedding season 2022 😍😍😍.

Brian and Shelby chose Venue 808 in Downtown San Diego to hold their wedding. The historical building reclaimed into an events venue is located within the 1933 TR Produce warehouse and has an urban industrial charm to it.

Wedding Ceremony

Shelby looked like an ethereal vision in a sleeveless white wedding gown that showed off her toned arms and sleeve tattoos. Her semi-sheer body-hugging dress featured floral applique embroidery studded with rhinestones and a long train to give Shelby the perfect bridal fantasy. Shelby’s bridesmaids wore off-shoulder teal green dresses and all looked absolutely gorgeous. Shelby’s maid-of-honor wore a dark velvet sleeveless dress featuring a side slit that set her apart from the bridesmaids. The bridal bouquet featured a mix of tropical blooms and local flowers in warm tones, provided by Pilarfloral.

Brian, a decorated veteran of the US Marine Corps, wore the traditional Dress Blues uniform as his groom’s outfit. Some of Brian’s groomsmen were his fellow servicemen in the Marine Corps and also wore their Dress Blues to the ceremony as a sign of respect to their brother. The other groomsmen in Brian’s entourage wore all-black tuxedos with matching yellow floral corsets and green handkerchiefs for a pop of bright color to their ensembles.

The couple walked down the indoor cobblestone aisle underneath a grove of real olive trees and said their vows in front of their loved ones by a farmhouse chapel inside Venue 808. To honor the newlyweds, Brian’s fellow servicemen did a traditional arch of swords after the ceremony to ensure Brian and Shelby’s safe passage into a happy new life together.

Wedding Reception

Brian and Shelby’s wedding reception was held at Venue 808’s banquet hall where they served canapes and baos before the lavish dinner service, catered by Social Tap San Diego. After dinner, freshly-baked cookies and milk provided guests with much-needed desserts by Caylee Cakes

After the meal, Brian and Shelby changed into matching all-white outfits to dance the night away. A house DJ from Crowd Control Entertainment LLC provided the tunes to cap off the couple’s unforgettable wedding day. The wedding was managed by Gabriela Pilar Events, with cinematography provided by Mario Morales Productions, and still photography by Sweetpapermedia.
